What is really special about the "She's Like the Wind" song was that it served as a special dedication from Patrick Swayze to his wife when he was still alive. This cd is a wonderful medley of various songs from various genres that make you think of summer fun and carefree good times where you enjoy yourself and have fun with those you care about. A very fun and feel good soundtrack that will give you an emotional boost and leave you feeling happy. I find this beautiful and heartwarming because it is obvious that the late Patrick Swayze and his wife shared true and lasting love because they were married from 1975 until this year when he passed away. The soundtrack has a wide range of good songs. Some of my favorite songs on the cd are "I've Had the time of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warner, "Hungry Eyes "by Eric Carmen, and "She's like the Wind" by Patrick Swayze and Eric Fraser. If you are open to various musical genres that leave you feel free and energetic then please purchase this cd. This cd is one of the classics that only gets better with time.
R.I.P. There is a good diversity of artists and the quality of the sound is excellent. Patrick. Overall, the CD soundtrack to the movie Dirty Dancing is loaded with incredible music; I mentioned most of the tracks but there's really not a dud in the bunch here.
He had worlds of talent as evidenced by his fine performances in motion pictures--and his singing on this album. I certainly had a lot of respect and admiration for Patrick Swayze. They sing together very well and this opening number is easy on the ear and memorable to say the least. Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs do justice to "Stay;" they do this one without ever letting go of a single superfluous note.
The CD also ends strong with "(I'll Remember) In the Still of the Night" performed by The Five Satins. I also like the artwork. The album begins with Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes performing "(I've Had) The Time of My Life;" they do this with panache and I'm very impressed. The music makes good use of the percussion and strings, too. Great. This has not been my best summer--for one thing, a lot of people passed away.
The Blow Monkeys do a stunning job on "You Don't Own Me" which I first heard sung by Leslie Gore; and there's another gem in Bruce Channel's "Hey Baby." "Hey Baby" has a musical arrangement that fits perfectly with Bruce's vocals and I particularly like that harmonica. Mickey & Sylvia do a classic hit entitled "Love Is Strange;" they sound great together and it has a certain romantic flavor to it that I just plain like. The Five Satins made it all seem so easy--but of course we know that it really wasn't all that easy. Their talent carried them through. The percussion is excellent and overall this music lacks nothing--The Ronettes' "Be My Baby" is all THAT good. This CD soundtrack to one of Patrick's movies, Dirty Dancing, has terrific music that gets my foot tapping to the beat of these tunes every time I play this album. I highly recommend this for people who enjoy romantic music both old and (relatively) new.
The Ronettes follow with one of their best tunes ever, "Be My Baby." "Be My Baby" is quite passionate; and The Ronettes' excellent diction and timing makes their performance very strong. In addition, Patrick Swayze and Wendy Fraser do a great job on "She's Like the Wind." "She's Like the Wind" hit the airwaves big when it was originally released and that's grand; it brings back good memories for me."Hungry Eyes" was a hit for Eric Carmen; he delivers this faultlessly and I love it. Of course, fans of the movie itself would do well to add this to their collections. Thank you for everything.
This is wonderful. All 3 of these CDs are big hits in this household and I am so happy I took advantage of the 3fer offer. With the exception of needing a pile driver to open the darn sealing tape on the top of each jewel case (whew)., these are in excellent condition, sound amazing, and I can't stop singing along (but I can't understand why the room clears when I begin to sing.).
I was in my mid 20s in the 80s but loved this music. Even one of the dogs got so excited feeding off my newfound energy and lifted spirits that he was prancing in circles along with me. Sure does take me back to a gentler, stress free time in my life.
Even peeling potatoes for supper I found myself clumsily dropping stuff into the sink because I couldn't keep my feet from dancing around the kitchen. I ordered this one along with Footloose and Flashdance because it was package deal I just couldn't ignore. I couldn't be happier.
Now THAT takes some doing seeing as how he is 12 years old. Funny, after all these years, I STILL can't decipher all the words to Flashdance's "Going on a Manhunt".
Excellent Song Track. Highly recommend this track for those who love danancing, especially if you were around during the'50's.
Soundtracks were really popular in the '80s and this one was no exception. The Dirty Dancing soundtrack was a childhood favorite, my mom used to play this album over and over again and I would dance like a nut to this timeless music. Songs like I've Had the Time of my Life, Hungry Eyes, Overload, Stay, Be My Baby, and Patrick Swayze's She's Like the Wind are the standouts. I love the film as well, great memories and incredible songs, I highly recommend this purchase.
